Tai Taitano

Drums, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Beginner Piano

Tai has been playing music in the Pacific Northwest for almost 20 years. Born into an artistic family, Tai grew up in a stockpile of passed down instruments that he could play whenever he wanted. Tai received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance for Jazz Drumset at the University of Washington studying under Ted Poor, Greg Sinibaldi, and Steve Korn.

Tai has recorded with various Seattle musicians such as Josh Hou and Oliver Franklin. He currently plays in bands such as Circular Reasoning and Bayou Envie. He spends most of his time playing in pit orchestras for various Puget Sound theater groups such as PvP, ReBoot, Centerstage Theatre, and Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Tai’s approach to teaching is building lesson plans off of what moves the student artistically from just playing along to records at home, dropping into a local jam session, joining a band, or writing their own musicals.
