Matt Hitchcock
Guitar, Piano, Voice, Bass, Ukulele

Matthew Hitchcock is a lifelong Musician and Songwriter beginning at the age of five when he was gifted
his first guitar.

Matt began to focus on songwriting and vocals at the age of eleven taking inspiration
from local Washington bands Nirvana, and Death Cab for Cutie creating a unique blend of curious and
intentional instrumentation alongside a vivid, depthful, and poetic lyrical approach. At the age of sixteen
Matt formed his first band Beladona with a few of his fellow classmates, as well as began an internship
at Stu Studios in Lake Stevens, WA. Around this time, he also began to fall in love with the erratic and
provoking literature of the Beat generation of authors. Using this alongside a carefully cultivated musical
styling Matt began to formulate his artistic identity. Pulling heavily from stream of consciousness theory,
Matt began to focus on writing that pulled from the subconscious believing that to be the most honest
and purest form of artistry. After playing shows in the Seattle area at numerous venues ranging from El
Corazon to the now lost Studio Seven, Matts first project, as well as his internship disbanded. However,
the experience he gained from the process was invaluable and carried on aiding in the forming of his
next major project, The Astro Lemons nearly eight years later.

The Astro Lemons formed when Matt met his now closest friends at a house party taking place in a
coworker’s rental. After some time, The Astro Lemons rented the house and converted it into a live-in
studio. This began the process of blending Doom Metal, Punk, Mathrock, Rap, Hip Hop, And Jazz stylings
into what would be Matts most ambitious project yet. Matt recorded, produced, and mastered every
track in their first self-titled EP. Around this time Matt also began his formal education in Music at
Edmonds College. There Matt took lessons in theory up to the advanced level, Music Production and
recording technologies, as well as Performance Jazz Guitar from the well renowned and famous
Seattleite, Milo Peterson. Milo became an explosive catalyst for Matts development as a Guitarist and
Musician stoking him to pursue the depth and knowledge of music that he has today and is ever working
to improve. It was also at this time that Matt formed his Personal Project Hobkni. Diving back to his
roots in curious exploration of emoting through sound, and stream of consciousness theory, Hobkni has
proven to be Matts most intimate and honest project. Using every tool he had gained in his life up to
this point to fully explore the depth of his character and human experience put into the language of
sound. Matt is currently in development of a full length Hobkni release. Written, played, recorded, and
produced by himself.

In the years between Beladona and The Astro Lemons, Matt delved into himself exploring many varied
forms of musical stylings focusing on Doom Metal, Death Metal, and Indie Folk. It was during this time
that Matt focused the most on his development as a vocalist and writer. Spending his time practicing
songs that would develop his vocal range and control, as well as learning how to use his voice, and to
understand the character of his voice. He also spent much of his time writing observational poetics and
short stories. All of which pushed to develop his ability to speak through poetry and sound.
