Colin Higgins

Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Piano, Voice

Colin Higgins has been playing music practically his whole life. From piano and trumpet as a child, to guitar and voice in his formative years. Hailing from Waukesha, Wisconsin, he graduated from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies and guitar performance. Also spending a year as an undergrad at University of North Texas studying jazz and classical guitar. Colin then moved to Seattle, Washington in the Fall of 1997, where he currently still resides.

Colin has played and recorded with a variety of musicians in Seattle. Some recent performances and recordings include: The Golden Road with Wayne Horvitz (live performances of classic Grateful Dead albums), Acoustic Zeppelin with Igor Abuladze (acoustic guitar and mandolin), Cecil Moses & the SG’s (original funk), Lucky Brown & the SG’s “Mesquite Suite” (original funk jazz), and Screens “The Hooded Pink Falcon” (indie, electro-pop). Higgins frequently performs solo on guitar and voice as well.

As a teacher, Colin brings much energy and experience, sharing knowledge and musical concepts based in theory, technique, form and improvisation. He instills good practice and playing habits in his students that allow for continual development of musicianship and artistry. Being versed in many styles, Colin’s personalized method will give you the tools to learn to play how you’ve always dreamed.
